SeAH Wind reaches major milestone as first Steel Can is rolled inside the factory

First steel rolling 111124 5

SeAH Wind takes its first step towards full production of its XXXL monopile factory in the UK, as the first Steel Can was rolled as part of the factory's pre-production trials earlier this month.

The 7.5-meter diameter steel can was rolled using our brand new roll bending machines from Hausler as part of the pre-production testing and operated by SeAH Wind staff under the supervision of the equipment manufacturer.

Paul Martin, Production Manager at SeAH Wind, said: “This is a pivotal and significant milestone at SeAH Wind as it signals the first steel can rolled within the factory. There has been a lot of progress made to get to this moment.

The trial roll was run like a production day with a pre-production briefing, quality assurance, and health & safety all attending the roll with no interruptions from either department. All works were carried out to the agreed RAMS."

SeAH Wind will produce additional large diameter sections simulating the full manufacturing process, gather critical data, validate equipment, and ensure process quality.

Situated on 120 acres of land within the South Bank on the Teesworks site, the SeAH Wind monopile factory is close to completion as SeAH Wind enter the last 10% of the build of the 1.1 million sq ft facility. Once completed, the building will stand at 40 meters high, 810 meters in length, and 200 meters wide.
