SeAH Wind today welcomes the UK Government’s announcement of the Allocation Round 7 (AR7) results, marking a significant milestone for the offshore wind sector.

On 14th January, the Government confirmed it had almost doubled the original £900 million budget allocated to fixed-bottom offshore wind in AR7, enabling a record-breaking 8.4GW of capacity to successfully clear the round. This decisive action underlines the UK’s continued commitment to accelerating offshore wind deployment and strengthening domestic supply chains.

David Jack, Chief Revenue Officer at SeAH Wind, described the announcement as a landmark moment for both the company and the wider industry:

“Today’s announcement is a monumental day for SeAH Wind, the UK Government and the offshore wind sector. It represents extremely positive news for our business and reinforces confidence in the UK’s offshore wind ambitions. We are now looking forward to delivering the RWE Vanguard East and West projects, with whom we have been engaged since the very beginning of our journey.”

SeAH Wind is actively engaged in tendering processes and commercial discussions covering approximately 7GW of the 8.4GW awarded through the AR7 auction. The company is strongly advocating for developers to maximise UK-based manufacturing and local content as these projects progress.

“We would welcome a continued focus on UK local content across AR7 projects,” added Jack. “By investing in domestic capability and expertise, the sector can deliver long-term value for the UK economy. While supporting high-quality, skilled employment here on Teesside, and ensure local people and businesses are at the heart of the UK’s offshore wind success. This approach will help secure lasting jobs, strengthen the regional supply chain, and support the sustainable growth of the offshore wind industry for decades to come.”
