Orsted and SeAH Wind reached an agreement for the supply of monopile foundations for the Hornsea 3 Offshore Wind project, located in the UK North Sea. This collaboration is poised to contribute significantly to the United Kingdom's ambitious goal of achieving 50GW of operational offshore wind capacity by 2030.

The monopiles will be supplied from their newly constructed XXXL monopile facility situated on the South Bank, Teesworks site, where they will range between 1300 - 2400 tons and 83 – 111 metres in length,

SeAH Wind CEO, Chris Sunghwal Sohn, expressed the company's enthusiasm for being awarded the contract for Hornsea 3 - “We feel privileged to sign an agreement to supply to Hornsea 3 as SeAH Wind’s first contract. Starting from 2024 when our facilities become operational, we are going to repay Orsted and the UK Government for the confidence they showed towards SeAH with high quality products and project management. Based on continued cooperation with partners, we intend to contribute to the development of global offshore wind industry as well as reach for the goals of our UK business.”

SeAH Wind’s facility will play a fundamental role in supplying foundation structures for the Hornsea 3 project which when complete, will be the world’s single largest offshore wind farm. The collaboration between Orsted and SeAH, represents not only a significant leap forward in the right direction for the development of offshore wind in the United Kingdom, but acts as a benchmark for the future scale of the industry at a global level.
